America: where a holiday to honor those who served also serves as an opportunity to honor buying stuff. In all seriousness, though, Memorial Day is prime time for stocking up on all the summer running essentials you forgot you need until that one day when it’s 85 degrees and sunny and you’re ready to hit the trails, only to remember you recycled your trail shoes because the lugs had been worn to nubs and you broke your poles on that big adventure last year.

Retailers from around the country are honoring the holiday weekend (in their own way) with some of the biggest sales of the year. From road shoes to ultralight poles, rain jackets to running shorts, now’s the time to score some mega savings before a summer of training, adventuring, and racing.

But no one wants to spend a beautiful holiday weekend holed up behind their computer scouring the internet. So we’ve waded through hundreds of sales to bring you our very favorite items that you can save big on right now.

The 11 Best 2025 Memorial Day Sale Running Gear Deals

Hoka Clifton 9 Running Shoes ($145) $110—25% off

Hoka Clifton 9

Buy Women’s Now $110 Buy Men’s Now $110

Weights: 7.7 oz. (women’s 8), 8.7 oz. (men’s 9)
Heel-Toe Offset: 5mm; 40mm (heel), 35mm (forefoot)

The ninth edition of one of Hoka’s flagship trainers epitomizes why this running shoe brand has skyrocketed to the top of the heap. It’s got the marshmallowly, highly-cushioned ride without extra weight. That’s largely thanks to the compression-molded EVA foam. There’s also an early-stage rocker to help deliver a smooth ride, and the engineered mesh upper is highly breathable. We love this shoe for easy runs, walking the dogs, and long days on feet.

Garmin InReach Mini 2 ($400) $300—$100 off

Garmin inReach Mini 2

Buy Now $300

Weight: 100 g

If you’re a trail runner who gets out of cell range (or a runner who also likes to hike out of cell range), you really need to get your hands on an InReach-type device. Typically Garmin has been on the higher end of satellite communicators, but at 25% off for its lightest, nearly full-functioned version, it’s tough to argue over price if it can save you in an emergency. And even if it doesn’t end up saving your life, we love the ability to share location data and message for your loved ones’ peace of mind. Even if this isn’t something you need, it’s a great gift for someone who might.

LEKI Ultratrail FX.One Carbon Running Poles ($220) $165—25% off

LEKI Ultratrail FX.One Carbon Poles

Buy Now $165

The trails are melting outside and trail running season is coming in hot. That means it’s almost time to break out the poles. If you’re looking for a pair, these featherlight carbon ones from Leki are the place to start. They fold down, making them ideal for transitioning to hands-free running and also for packing in a suitcase. Plus the ergonomic straps click on and off—no fumbling with velcro necessary.

Smartwool Active Ultralite T-Shirt ($65) $49—25% off

Smartwool Active Ultralite T-Shirt

Buy Women’s Now $49 Buy Men’s Now $49

If you’re someone who sweats a lot (raises hand) and has a tendency to be not-so-good at airing out your running shirt right away, Merino wool is a crucial choice. Smartwool’s superlight Merino wool technical tee is a good choice for runs in warmer temperatures (or as a baselayer when temps dip), and because of the composition of the fibers, it won’t stink up the joint after a few years of use. We’ve even used these soft-to-the-touch tees for casual wear in a pinch, as they son’t scream “running shirt.”

Merrell Agility Peak 5 Trail Running Shoes ($140) $109—22% off

Merrell Agility Peak 5 Trail Running Shoe

Buy Women’s Now $109 Buy Men’s Now $109

Weights: 7.84 oz. (women’s 8), 10.58 oz. (men’s 9)
Heel-Toe Offset: 6mm; 31mm (heel), 25mm (forefoot)

We found ourselves turning to this shoe throughout the winter and spring for trail runs and gravel miles, and good thing it’s on sale because we’re going to keep a good thing going through summer, too. The Merrell Agility Peak 5 fits like a clove without constricting your arch and toes, and a Vibram Megagrip outsole gives it teeth on rocks and roots.

Brooks 3 Pocket Sports Bra ($55) $35—35% off

Brooks 3 Pocket Sports Bra

Buy Now $35

Thanks to three stealth pockets, this sports bra is the ultimate daily go-to. Put your phone in the back and keys, a gel, and a credit card on the sides and you’re ready to conquer the world before your first morning meeting!

Salomon Bonatti Waterproof Running Jacket ($180) $135—25% off

Salomon Bonatti Waterproof Running Jacket

Buy Women’s Now $135 Buy Men’s Now $135

Say goodbye to choosing between breathable and waterproof. The Salomon Bonatti Waterproof Jacket does it all. And at just 150 grams, you won’t even notice it stashed in your running vest on big mountain days.

Saucony Xodus Ultra 3 Trail Running Shoes ($160) $120—25% off

Saucony Xodus Ultra 3 Trail Running Shoes

Buy Women’s Now $120 Buy Men’s Now $120

Weights: 7.84 oz. (women’s 8), 10.58 oz. (men’s 9)
Heel-Toe Offset: 6mm; 31mm (heel), 25mm (forefoot)

While some reviewers gave dings to the Saucony Xodus Ultra 3 for sub-par durability, in the hundreds of miles I’ve put on craggy Southern California trails, I’ve yet to form any complaints around the updated upper. Elsewhere, the Xodus Ultra 3 is a great choice for softer cushioning on a high-ish stack trail shoe that is truly a jack-of-all trades. From super steep and technical trails to long, boring road approaches to the trailhead, this is the pair I pack when I don’t know what type of terrain I’ll be tackling on a trip—and that should tell you something.

Athleta Mesh Racer Run Mid Rise 4″ Running Short ($50) $25—50% off

Athleta Mesh Racer Run Mid Rise 4" Running Short

Buy Now $25

Recycled, silky-smooth and stretchy fabric plus a chic silhouette bump these shorts to the top of our list. Bonus points for an infinity drawstring that won’t get lost in the wash, and two pockets for carrying essentials.

Superfeet Running Insoles ($60) $45—25% off

Superfeet Running Insoles

Buy Now $45

There are definitely strong opinions about orthotics, and even stronger ones about non-custom orthotics, but at only $45 if you’re having any foot, leg, hip pain at all, this is a good start to help correct and stabilize any imbalances along your kinetic chain. My go-tos have always been the “Cushion” model, as they don’t add a ton of support (because I don’t need it), but they do add a layer of protection and cushioning, especially on lower-profile trail shoes. And if you’re already a Superfeet fan, this is a good opportunity to stock up.

Ten Thousand Distance Running Shorts ($88) $70—20% off

Ten Thousand Distance Running Shorts

Buy Now $70

Though Ten Thousand doesn’t have much of a tradition in the run-specific space, that doesn’t mean the Canadian brand can’t put together a good pair of running shorts. I’ve been a fan of this under-the-radar run brand (who probably has more sales in general workout/athleisure gear) for years, and I’ve found their running shorts to have the perfect blend of soft, chafe-free materials and lightweight breathability (again, to prevent chafing). Add some handy pockets, and at $70 on sale, these shorts are punching way outside their weight class. One complaint: They’re only available in men’s.
