Two-time Olympic medalist Bernard Lagat won the Nike Men's 3000-meter race at the 2011 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 26 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Lagat's time of 7:57.17 was more than 15 seconds faster than his 8:12.60 win at last year's event. Lagat, 36, defeated 2008 Olympian Galen Rupp of Oregon (7:59.91), Arizona's Aaron Braun (8:02.59), and 2011 USA Cross Country champion Brent Vaughn (8:09.45) of Colorado.

In the women's 3000-meter race, Jenny Simpson, 24, pulled ahead of Sara Hall in the last 100 meters to win her first national title in 9:02.20. Hall (9:03.91) was the runner-up for the second consecutive year. Simpson also won the mile race on February 27 in 4:34.96.
